Dronedemon is no longer trading but we hope the information below may be of help
with your enquiries with other vendors
Q/ What is the difference between a UAV and a drone?
A/ Nothing! It has become the nature of most tech businesses to use Three Letter Acronyms (TLA) to baffle us. This business is no different, a drone can be referred to as a
UAV - Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
UAS - Unmanned Aerial System
RPA - Remotely Piloted Aircraft
RPV - Remotely Piloted Vehicle
SUA - Small Unmanned Aircraft, and if it has a camera, a
SUSA - Small Unmanned Surveillance Aircraft.

Q/ How do you become a professional at flying UAV's?
A/ There are two types of UAV pilot, those who fly recreationally, for fun, and those who are paid for their results from flying. Those who are paid tend to be called professional's, or commercial operators, and must have a Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) licence that is approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and public liability insurance.

Q/ Do you have a licence to operate?
A/ Yes, we are approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to operate commercially.
The CAA required our UAV pilot to pass their theory examination, write an Operation's Manual detailing the business, aircraft and working/operating procedures and then be flight assessed for competency and ability.
The CAA have issued Drone Demon
with a Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) licence
which is renewed annually.
Q/ Are you insured?
A/ Yes, the Drone Demon pilot has to have Public Liability Insurance in order to get a PfCO licence.
We are insured with a leading insurer in the UAV industry
with £5m of public liability insurance
£5,000 material insurance
We can show you the certificate on request.

Q/ Can you fly anywhere?
A/ No, there are many CAA rules and regulations which are there for everyone's safety but we don't want you to get bogged down with them.
We have some pointer's below that help us adhere to the rules and regulations:

-
We cannot fly within 50m of people, vehicles, vessels & structures which are not under our control, and not over crowds of more than 1000 people.
-
We must fly with a visual line of sight of the UAV, within 500m of the pilot and must not exceed a height of 400ft (~120m)
-
Certain restrictions apply in areas of Central London and around the country where additional permissions to fly need to be sought from the C.A.A.
-
If we are flying near to an airport or aerodrome, we may need to contact Air Traffic Control to advise them of our operation.

Q/ Is your drone safe?
A/ As safe as it can be with our safety planning. We use state of the art drones that are approved by the CAA for commercial operation. They are meticulously maintained and serviced, with software updated as released and then performance tested. Everything is logged, as required by the CAA and checklists used to ensure nothing is missed.
The UAV also has built in safety features:
-
24 high performance computing cores providing stabilisation, forward and downward vision systems
-
Stabilisation using GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning systems
-
Return to Home system that can be manually operated if the pilot is incapacitated or automatically operated by the UAV itself, if it is in trouble

Q/ What do you need from us?
A/ Please use the contact us form to provide as much detailed information about what you require from us for your project. We can then make an assessment and provide an indicative price on our job form.
On the day, initially:
-
We require the permission of the landowner to take off and land
-
We must have an Observer to aid the pilot who cannot be distracted from flying. Its often useful for our client to be/provide an observer and work on the project together
-
When working in busy or large areas or with larger groups of people we sometimes require Spotters to be additional look outs and aid with coordination and safety management of the area. Its often useful for our client to be/provide spotters and work on the project together

Q/ How much time do you need to book your service?
A/ Generally we require a couple of days prior to the project day in order to assess the viability of the operation. Dependant on our availability, the site and any permissions that are required. Please provide as much notice as possible to avoid disappointment.

Q/ How do we confirm a booking?
A/ We will send you the quote on a job form which includes details of the work required. An email confirmation reply is sufficient to initially book the date but full payment confirms the booking

Q/ What do you charge?
A/ Please see our pricing page. We provide a fixed quote rather than an hourly rate in order for you to make an informed decision. Although, there can be additional expenses incurred

Q/ What are the additional expenses?
A/ We require travel expenses @ 45p per mile outside an approx 20 mile radius of our location in Gloucestershire. There can also be expenses for notifications and obtaining permissions. These will be determined during the assessment

Q/ How do we pay and when?
A/ Payment's can be made by bank transfer or Paypal. Payment is required at least 7 days before the agreed day of operation. Earliest payment guarantee's our availability.

Q/ Can you fly in all weather?
A/ We cannot fly in winds greater than 20mph as the UAV becomes slightly less stable in order to provide perfect imaging. We also cannot fly in the rain.

Q/ What if the weather isn't suitable on the day?
A/ If the weather isn't suitable or other circumstance's prevent flying, the operation can be moved to another mutually suitable day.
When the operation is covering a special event, i.e. the date isn't movable, we will work with you to do what we can. Things can change during a day to provide operational windows. Drone Demon aren't liable for not being able to proceed if those windows don't correspond with your service timings

Q/ What if the client need's to cancel the operation?
A/ Please contact us to discuss the cancellation costs. Drone Demon need to recover the operating costs for your project and issue a refund for the balance

Q/ What if Drone Demon need to cancel the operation?
A/ If the issue is weather or due to safe flying circumstances and we cannot postpone the operation, Drone Demon need to recover the operating costs for your project which will be advised and a refund issued.
If Drone Demon need to cancel for their own circumstances then the client will receive a full refund.
We take pride in our service and will do all we can to provide you with the fantastic unique imagery that you require. It will be most unfortunate if we have to cancel.

Q/ How long can you fly for?
Our UAV can generally be in the air for up to 20 minutes depending on conditions. We have several batteries that will extend flight time on site. We also have travel chargers which can enable further flights after a couple of hours.

Q/ What is the quality and format of your imaging?
A/ The UAV's we use take 12 megapixel photo's (4000 x 3000 pixel images) and upto 4K Ultra HD video. The photo's can be taken in JPEG and DNG (raw) format. Video's can be taken in MP4 or MOV format.

Q/ Who owns the footage?
A/ Drone Demon own the copyright of the footage.

Q/ How does the client obtain the imagery?
A/ Clients can receive their footage by email, through a dedicated Dropbox link, direct USB transfer or on an SD card

Q/ Do you provide a live video feed?
A/ Yes, we have a live video downlink that enables a First Person View (what the drones camera sees) for the pilot which can be shared. With a suitable mobile data connection it can also be possible to provide a FPV on Facebook.

Q/ What quality of image is used on your website?
A/ The images are of varying resolution in order to make the website useable. Some DNG images can be over 100MB. You will receive the full image quality.

Q/ Did you take all of the images on your website?
A/ A couple of 'stock' labelled images have been used to provide idea's for the use of our drone but all of the other images are taken by the Drone Demon.
We think its important to show the quality that we can provide.
Many of the images are untampered with original's, and have not been enhanced! except to add a logo
